The aim of checkups for preventing cancer "Krebsvorsorgeuntersuchung (KVU)" in women is, to discover malignant tumors as early as possible and treat, because only then there is a very good chance of recovery. Every woman from the age 20 can consult their gynecologist once a year for a free checkup and have a blood pressure measurement, the Pap smear and a breast exam (palpation). A visit prior to the KVU and subsequent consultation are within the checkup. From the age of 30 years the screening will be complemented by a palpation of the breasts to detect any node. Upon reaching the 50th birthday additional rectal examination is performed. Up to the age of 69 years, all women, every two years, invited to a screening mammogram (x-ray screening of the breast).
